The chart shows the nominal median house prices in each of the capital cities in March 1980 and March 2016. In overall, people have to spend over 10 times for a house in March 2016 comparing with March 1980. The most expensive houses are in Sydney compared to the houses where people can afford a house for $385 000.
In 2016, citizens have to pay more money to own houses depending on cities, states, territories or regional areas.
